Lower Extremities – Knee
The knee joint is the largest joint in the human body and is subjected to the most strain. Therefore there is a considerable risk of knee joint injury or disease. The causes for knee complaints can vary widely. Generally speaking, one can differentiate between acute and chronic knee pain.
Soft Knee Bracing
Used for anterior knee pain, acute or chronic. The REACTION WEB is a responsive, webbed approach to knee pain that gives you a distinct alternative to the basic knee sleeve. The elastomeric web is an innovative solution that absorbs shock, disperses energy and shifts pain away from your knee. This comfortable, easy to apply solution takes the shape of your knee, with an improved design engineered for better fit and comfort.
- Chondromalacia Patella
- Osgood-Schlatter Disease
- Patella OA, mild bi-compartmental OA
- Quadriceps and Patella tendonitis
An extremely durable knee support combining strength with flexibility. The Trainer utilises the innovative dynamic force strap which eliminates the need for a medial upright as well as resisting valgus forces during extension. An adjustable tibial strap that captures the tibia and allows adjustments in hinge depth for a more customised fit.
- Mild to moderate ligament laxity
- Acute management of Grade I and Grade II MCL sprains
- Recommended for low to moderate activity
Rigid Knee Bracing
There are various ligaments on the knee. They stabilise the joint in conjunction with muscles encompassing the knee joint. The ligaments must have a certain strength in order to ensure stabilisation and proper mobility in the joint. Ligament weakness (laxity) may occur due to congenital or acquired factors. This frequently results in weakness of the joints. In case of a ligament rupture, stability in the joint may even be lost entirely.
Outfitted with anatomically correct Accutrac® hinges and flexible cuffs and buckles, the rock-solid CTi carbon frame provides a rigid exoskeleton that stabilizes the knee joint. Breathable liners coated with Silicone ensure CTi remains properly positioned on the leg, for optimal functional benefit. Manufactured with non-corrosive materials makes the CTi ideal for water-sports
- ACL, MCL, LCL, PCL, rotary and combined instabilities
- All activity levels.
The custom Defiance is DonJoy’s flagship knee brace. With clinically-proven technology including the 4-Points-of-Leverage System plus innovative, high-tech materials and design, this lightweight brace provides durable effective support.
- Moderate to severe ACL, PCL, CI, MCL and LCL instabilities
- All activity levels.
OA Knee Bracing
Knee osteoarthritis refers to wear of the articular cartilage. The loss of cartilage causes the surfaces to lose their sliding capabilities, leading to constant friction in the joint. This results in joint effusion, pain, blocking of the joint, joint stiffness and restricted mobility. Knee osteoarthritis has a variety of causes. It can occur as a secondary symptom following an injury of the capsular ligaments or as an axial malposition (knock knees or bowed legs). Other causes include disease and inflammation.
The OA Reaction Web gives those with OA knee pain the relief they need in a comfortable, lightweight, discreet solution. It is a unique and effective way to treat osteoarthritis pain, featuring patented silicone web technology and comfortable off-loading.
- Early to mild uni-compartmental osteoarthritis of the knee and patella
- Added option for patients wanting to use a lighter alternative than rigid OA bracing.
- Mild to moderate activity levels.
A comfortable, lightweight, low-profile brace that provides excellent suspension and pain relief. This lightweight brace uses a 3 points of leverage system with fine-tuning via the Smartdosing dial for quick and effective pain relief. The Unloader one reduces pain, improves function and decreases the use of pain medication according to research.
- Mild to severe uni-compartmental osteoarthritis
- Bone Marrow lesions
- Suitable for non-contact activities
Lower Extremities – Ankle
Ligaments in the ankle joint can be overextended or may even rupture due to twisting the foot, with or without the application of external force. Such injuries often occur during sports activities. Acute ankle injuries are the most frequent here. They account for approximately 15 to 20% of sport injuries. Sports with frequent, rapid changes of direction, jumps and contact with opposing players are especially risky for the ankle ligament structures. The risk of a renewed ankle injury is elevated, especially among athletes. Approximately one-third of patients suffer another ankle injury within 3 years; among athletes, this figure is as high as 73% of all cases. Later on, many patients also complain about minor yielding of the ankle, pain while walking and running, slight swelling and slight instability of the ankle joint.
Airselect puts comfort, control and healing in the hands of the patient with the most advanced pneumatic walking boot available. The integrated inflation system lets patients inflate each aircell individually, to maximise comfort and minimise oedema.
- Stable fractures of the foot/ ankle/ lower leg
- Severe ankle sparing
- Post-operative immobilisation.
Wraptor with speed laces
The Bledsoe Wraptor Ankle Stabilizer prevents eversion or inversion by supporting the ankle in a biomechanically neutral position using non-stretch nylon figure-eight straps. The Wraptor is effective protecting the ankle either proactively or in the rehabilitation of acute ankle sprains. Fits both the right and left ankle and comes with Speed Laces for quick application and removal.
- Chronic and acute ankle sprains
- Abnormal eversion and inversion control
- Protective sportswear.
Achilles tendon ankle support providing protection and shock absorption of the Achilles with a silicone guide embedded in the brace. Separate heelpieces also included to relieve tension on the tendon and limit vibrations as well as ensuring balance on both feet.
- Achilles tendinopathy
- Achilles strains
The Form Fit ankle brace’s advanced design provides the compression and comfort of a soft ankle support with 20 – 35% more protection than traditional stirrups. With a Figure-8 heel lock strapping which performs consistently, unlike taping that stretches over time. Embedded stirrups provide excellent inversion/eversion support. Figure 8 finger pull loops allow the user to easily adjust the figure 8 strap during donning and for quick on-the-fly adjustment during use.
